Privacy

Your information, in plain words.

This site is run by Defender Africa Foundation, a non-profit working in Wakiso and Busia districts, Uganda. We have tried to keep it simple, and to collect as little as possible.

What we do not do

  • We do not use cookies on this site.
  • We do not use analytics or advertising trackers.
  • We do not load fonts, scripts or images from third-party tracking services. Our fonts are served from this site.
  • We do not sell or rent anyone’s information.

What you choose to send us

If you use a form on this site, you give us your name, email address, the topic and your message, and optionally your organisation. We use that only to reply to you and to follow up on what you asked about.

Depending on how the site is set up, a form either sends your message through a form-handling service, or opens your own email app with the message ready to send. In both cases we receive your message and nothing else about you.

Server logs

Like almost every website, the company that hosts this site may keep standard technical logs, such as IP address and the time of a visit, for security and to keep the site running. We do not use these to identify visitors.

Links to other sites

We link to other organisations, for example the Globalhand directory and the GBV Prevention Network. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Photographs

Photographs on this site are free-licence images chosen to illustrate life in Uganda. See the photo credits for who made them and under which licence. We take particular care with images of children and ask for consent before using photographs of people we work with.

Children

This site is not aimed at children, and we do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18 through it.

Your rights

You can ask us at any time what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. We aim to handle personal information in line with Uganda’s Data Protection and Privacy Act, 2019. Email us at [email protected], or the contact page to make a request.

Changes

If we change how the site works, we will update this page and the date at the top.
